Vachnamrut, the main scripture of Swaminarayan Sampraday, is a kind favour on mankind from Shree Sahajanand Swami. It is a compilation of sermons delivered by Sahajanand Swami. These sermons are neither verbal acrobatics of the elite, nor the result of the religious dialogues of the Vedantis. This is a para-vani of Parbrahm Parmatma. The world literature is flooded with extraordinary religious texts, yet most are indirect reflections. Even sectarian literature represents the personal realisations of Dharmagurus.

Vachnamrut stands at the pinnacle among modern-day religious literature. Each discourse begins with precise details — date, time, place, audience, and even the attire of Shree Sahajanand Swami — creating a living spiritual atmosphere. Every Vachnamrut is filled with divine nectar, received without any churning.

The contribution of Swaminarayan Sampraday to the Gujarati language is remarkable. Vachnamrut is considered the first major work of modern Gujarati prose. It serves as a guide for seekers — a Guru-like key to liberation from Maya.

This scripture is the breathing of the Vedas. It represents both Shabda-Brahman and Par-Brahman in a unified form.

The Vachnamruts follow the Pari-Prashna method — a question-answer tradition rooted in the Upanishads. This method allows seekers to ask repeatedly until clarity is achieved. It is a privilege of the disciple and never a sign of disrespect.

Bhagwan Swaminarayan actively encouraged this approach, creating a pure flow of spiritual wisdom. With this, He removed corrupt practices of His time and established a divine stream of knowledge — a true Gyan Ganga. The four Sadgurus compiled these teachings into what we know today as the Vachnamrut.
